What Is the GSIS STEM Scholarship?
The GSIS Subsidy for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Program is a new government scholarship that gives ₱15,000 annually to qualified incoming college freshmen pursuing STEM courses.
The program runs for four academic years (AY 2026 to 2030), supporting a total of 4,000 students over its lifetime. The total government budget allocated for this initiative reaches ₱240 million by 2034.
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. himself has backed the program, stating that “innovation and agility will be the key to survival in the coming years.” GSIS President and General Manager Wick Veloso described the program as a direct response to the President’s push for a technologically skilled Filipino workforce.
Who Is Eligible?
To qualify for the GSSP, applicants must meet all of the following:
- Be an incoming first-time college freshman
- Be accepted or enrolled in a 4- or 5-year STEM Bachelor’s Degree at any CHED-registered institution under the following categories: Autonomous/Deregulated Private HEIs, Chartered Universities, SUCs (Level III and IV), Local Colleges and Universities, Centers of Excellence (COE), or Centers of Development (COD)
- Have a GWA of at least 90% with no failing grade in Senior High School
Documents Required for Application
The parent-applicant must submit the following to the nearest GSIS office:
- PSA Birth Certificate of the nominated child (original or certified true copy)
- Certificate of Employment or Service Record of the GSIS member (or disability claim approval for PTD pensioners)
- Certification from the college/university confirming the child’s acceptance or enrollment, the course name, course duration, and year level
- SHS Report Card showing a GWA of at least 90% with no failing grades (original or certified true copy)
- For PWD, IP, and Solo Parent applicants or children:
- Endorsement from the head of agency or designated official
- Valid PWD ID from the City/Municipal Persons with Disability Affairs Office or NCDA
- Certificate of Confirmation of Tribal Membership from NCIP (for IPs)
- Valid Solo Parent ID from the Local Social Welfare Development Office
Reserved Slots for Special Groups
GSIS allots 1,000 slots per year from AY 2026–2027 through AY 2029–2030, distributed proportionately per region based on official GSIS membership coverage.
Of those slots, at least 20% per region are reserved exclusively for:
- Persons with Disabilities (PWDs)
- Indigenous Peoples (IPs)
- Solo Parent members
Within each region, slots are awarded starting from the member with the lowest annual basic salary or pension prioritizing the most financially vulnerable families.

How Much Will You Receive?
Every GSSP grantee receives ₱15,000 per academic year – released directly to the scholar’s Landbank ATM account upon submission of grades showing a GWA of at least 85%.
But here is what makes this scholarship even more rewarding — students who graduate with Latin honors receive a one-time cash bonus on top of the annual subsidy:

- Fill out the form completely – print and write all entries in capital letters
- Attach all required documents
- Submit in person to the nearest GSIS office on or before August 31, 2026
